Why you should add Cambodia to your bucket list

Every traveler’s dream is to visit as many countries as possible in their lifetimes. It is a utopic goal, but once you get started, you can almost never stop. That is why many of us make bucket lists, so we can cover as much of the map as possible. However, we all know our priorities. Some countries are more desirable than others, and it is for good reason. Cambodia, on the other hand, is one of those countries that you must go to, and here is why.

You have never seen so many ancient ruins in one place

Cambodia is filled with ancient ruins dating from the 9th century and even older. Very few places are restored, and nature has reclaimed its territory, but that only adds charm. And imagine rebuilding a 9th-century temple. Not only that it would take away its magic, but it would ruin the place in the true sense of the word. After all, that is why people go there, to see the World Heritage Archeological Sites. Making them new and shiny would ruin the experience entirely.

To be more specific, Siem Reap is full of the old temples. The entire Angkor Park is worth your while, but Banteay Samre, Banteay Kdei, and the Angkor Wat are places worth seeing at least once in your life.

The cruises

The southern part of Cambodia is bordered by the Gulf of Thailand, and the several big rivers and lakes inland make it possible for you to enjoy multiple cruises. Places like the Tonle Sap lake and the famous floating villages will take your breath away. You have various choices, but the Cambodians have created the most amazing experiences for you. Fresh seafood, good wine, and romantic trips on the water will create lovely memories for you and your family or spouse. It would be a pity not to take advantage of the several bodies of water in Cambodia, and the best way to experience that is to spend a few days on a cruise. You can find from premium cruises to luxury, and the prices are not that high.

The waterfalls

Cambodia seems to compensate for every other country that does not have a single waterfall. A simple look on TripAdvisor will help you get a clear picture, but you can enjoy multiple. Of course, you cannot think of visiting all of them, but it is enough to go to Siem Reap. There you will find Kbal Spean and the waterfall from Phnom Kulen National Park. If you want to go further, you can go to Banlung. You will find even more like Ka Chanh Waterfall, Ka Tieng, Cha Ong, and a few others. The point is that these places are stunning, and the trip to reach them are unforgettable. Nature parks are a part of Cambodia’s pride, and many people go there just for that. You should try it.

Do not forget your papers

Apart from the mesmerizing scenery, Cambodia is one of the countries that issue electronic visas. If you are eligible, you can apply for a Cambodia evisa and have it in your email inbox in 24 hours. All you need is a passport, a digital photo and a means of payment. For your convenience, you can get passport photos online in case you do not already have one. Other than that, you will have a lot of fun in Cambodia. The place will enchant you.
