Who you think can star as the characters in the US version of the 2nd and 3rd book?
I’ve got a few ideas on who can play some of the new characters in the US version of the 2nd and 3rd book. Tell me if you agree or disagree, and if you’ve got a better idea:
Teleborian – david strathairn (perfect as a charismatic devil, he showed he can play one in The Bourne Ultimatum)
Dag Svensson – Aaron Eckhart or Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
Malin Eriksson – Malin Akerman (same names, i guess)
Jan Bublanski – jim broadbent (something about jim broadbent screams officer bubble)
Ronald Niedermann – dolph lundgren (LOL)
Zalachenko – John Hurt
any more ideas?

I think Daniel Craig is ok for the role of Mikael Blomkvis, Rooney Mara didn’t quite convice me in her role of Lisbeth since i saw the swedish version first and you have to compare her acting to that of Noomi Rapace, Rapace was just awesome maybe a British actress since Craig is British too or i´d prefer some one like Christina Ricci you remember her as the creepy daughter in the Adams Family movie? she was just a kid and did ok in that role since she’s grown i think she´ll do good in a roll like Lisbeth’s but hey that’s just my opinion there might be better people for the roles who knows?

Dude you are crazy..Rooney was spectacular! Don’t get me wrong Noomi was great too but I don’t think she holds a candle to Mara

I agree that John Hurt would be perfect for Zalachenko.
In addition:
Ronald Niedermann – Ian Whyte (7' 1?)
Dr. Peter Teleborian – Gary Oldman
Monica Figuerola – Angelina Joli
Evert Gullberg – Max von Sydow
Jan Bublanski – Paul Giamatti
more later, as I come up with them.

I have always imagine Jan Bublanski as Stephen Rea (Finch in V for Venetta)
Posted by Dragonreader in Anonymous, Calif. USA ,
Dragonreader:
I hadn’t considered Stephen Rea (also Fergus from THE CRYING GAME). I’ll have to say he would be a good choice. I got the distinct impression from the books, though, that Bublanski was rather portly, which Paul Giamatti really doesn’t fit, either. The only non-comedic heavyweight I could come up with was Paul Sorvino, but he’s much too old to play Bubble. Of course, you realize that we’re pricing poor David Fincher right out of his filming budget.

Hi Im back! I havent seen this film, The Crying Game. Giametti ? no! Jim Broadbent is charming old gent but he doesnt look like it is and he is all booked down in many films, he is a busy actor. About Zalachenko, Im really wanted Ciaran Hinds. He’s perfect!
Posted by Dragonreader in Anonymous, Calif. USA ,
Ciaran Hinds would probably make a good Zalachenko. Giamatti was my wife’s idea–she’s seen the Swedish productions of “Fire” and “Hornet’s Nest” but hasn’t read the books yet. I was at a loss, so I accepted her suggestion. I’m still very much up in the air on Bubble. Do you have any suggestions for Gunnar Björk or Prosecutor Richard Ekström? I am totally at a loss on both of these guys.

Gunnar Bjork is hard to guess…likely toward the actor that I havent know the name, I’ll have to google like I did with Ciaran Hinds (I saw him in Jane Eyre) .. I checked on IMDB and only two cast, Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig. That’s it! It makes me thinks ok, it’s time to take alternative road. Or back to previous one,The Girl with Dragon Tattoo cast, . Ekstrom, I pictured is something familiar…The monster tall man, Ronald Niedermann possibly is Ian (in white blond hair dye) or others same height as him. Hopefully he can be in a foul mood as nail imbed in the plank board.Cant wait to watch the battle of the wit and the muscle.
I have read all three books in a month, this is a very excellent books. Its is too bad that the author left so soon.

On the second thought how about William H. Macy for Bjork? Michael Fassbender for Sandberg?
Posted by Dragonreader in Anonymous, Calif. USA ,
I pictured Bjork as taller and huskier build than Macy–don’t get me wrong, I love William H. Macy, I just pictured someone a bit more masculine. Michael Fassbender would be a great choice for Sandberg, plus he has worked with the original Lisbeth in PROMETHEUS. What would you think of William H. Macy as Sandstom (the journalist/john that Lisbeth strings up and ineterogates

All I want them to do is dump Daniel Craig. He was awful and he is demanding 40 MILLION the reprise the role. I just don’t know what to read next…how come there isn’t a thread about that?
Posted by Melinda Lu in Seattle ,
$40 MILLION???!!! Who does he think he is? Marlon Brando??? That’s almost half the budget of the first film! Hell, I’ll play the part for 1% of that, and I can do as good a job as Daniel Craig. It’s not like the role is physically demanding.
Posted by rickbull in Nashville ,
Hello, yeah I agree with melinda, I dont need to watch his attitude there. If the studio decide to drop him, Im sure next movie, people will say “Daniel Craig? No, he never been there in the first place” lol because this will be so blockbuster movie.

I did check on imdb for new cast for the next new movie coming, The Girl who play with the Fire”, Rooney Mara is defo in it for sure. but no cast… : ( I cant wait for poor Yorik with tattooed, on floor.. hey he get paid for that!
Posted by Dragonreader in Anonoymous, Calif. ,
I would like Rooney Mara to play Lisbeth asap.
Posted by The dragon in Salanderwillage ,
We can do without Daniel Craig, but we can’t have them writing Michael Bloomkvist out of the script–his character is too integral to the plot. Soooooo–we need to find a replacement for Craig. Age range 40-50, medium height, hair color doesn’t matter, but it has to be someone who fits the basic physicality. I’ll throw out some suggestions: Willem Dafoe, Gerard Butler, Tim Roth, Sam Rockwell, Ewan McGregor, or Colin Farrell. Yay, nay, suggestions welcome.

I don’t understand those who criticize Rooney Mara, I have found her perfect in his role. On the contrary, Daniel Craig I was not convinced. Anyway I found the film’s crazy. I can’t wait to see the next!!
I think the Rooney criticism results mostly from the order of the viewer’s/reader’s encounters with Lisbeth. I finished reading all three books this past March, before having seen any of the movies, and let my mind’s eye create the characters. After reading the books, I watched all four of the films that have been made thus far, beginning with the American version of GWTDT (it was on one of my cable channels every other night at the time, so it was the most convenient to get to). Within a month, I had watched all four films in fairly rapid progression–but not all in one night. As a result, I adore both actresses, and think that both did great jobs in interpreting the character, but each did a slightly different interpretation. I think that Rooney fit the physical description better, although she is still a bit too tall. Noomi conveyed Lisbeth’s anger and self-consciousness a bit better, but Rooney conveyed her aloofness somewhat better. My verdict: I can watch either actress playing the part; I love both of them.
Posted by rickbull in Nashville ,
I think rickbull is right; both Roony and Noomi did Lisbeth justice but I wish the fact that this woman is little is very significant–not 5 feet. Niether of these actress can do anything about this besides the tricks used in the Lord of the Rings to show hobbits as short.

Im back again to check out the second part, The Girl who played with fire to my dismay that still two remaining casts Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig (rumored) from IMDB. Whats going on?Maybe still Craig under negioation with producers?
Posted by Dragonreader in Anytown,Calif. ,
NO ONE. Sorry but Scandinavian and European drama is just that – the slightly dark film noir – and is not intended to be “Americanised”, nor Britishsised, whatsoever! Just as Bron/Borgen. Leave it alone, watch it with subtitles, learn Swedish or just stick to the books!!

Peter Stromer(spelling? he was in Fargo as bad guys) for tall giant german guy. think its perfect cast?
