Just now re-watched “Girl in the Spider’s Web”. Liked the story idea, very relevant to contemporary concerns about computer/AI domination and control of human “free-will”. Liked the pacing of an above average espionage thriller, and the more than minimal character development worked well enough – especially of the more peripheral characters to the story’s plot. So in my humble opine it did it’s job and it ticked all the boxes for me. Not the best spy story or espionage thriller i have ever watched or read (except for real life!) But definitely not the worst (ahem,… “Mr Bond”).
Soooo… i thought i’d just have an look around for the actual original book by Mr Larsson. Found the Millennium Trilogy to be a TOTAL page-turning “un-put-downable” read I have ever had since i, finally read The Sprawl Trilogy of William Gibson. I love that combination of noir-thriiler-goverment-corporate-gangster tech thriller. OK Neuromancer IS set about 50 years into the future, but the underlying thrill and story-mover is of the Outsider and their friends and their superior technical knowledge defeats, or at least exposes the vile and evile machinations of government and corporate corruption which routinely is SHITTING all over the basic Human dignity of the stories protagonists. Soooo., again, Where can i buy an actual copy of the original novel by Stieg Larsson. I have searched all over the cyberspace matrix (and in the process grieved a lot about the “good old days” of FTP, TELNET ,and GOPHER.), but NOT EVEN ON fucking AMAZON!! IS there then, could somebody tell me, an actual novel for the film “The Girl in the Spider’s Web”? Thanks!
