The third book is undoubtedly the grandest; it grows from a story centered on persons to a plot that involves layers of various organizations. High quality spy story and of course lots of suspense about the heroine of the series, Lisbeth Salander. I read it in french and that was also a way to compare colloquial modern french with the language I studied back in the ’60s.

I’ve read the third book in German and it was the best of the three. Breathtaking. I can’t wait until 2010 for the English translation
One of the best stories / sequels I’ve ever read. Perhaps only the Bernie Gunther series of Jonathan Kerr (Berlin Noir trilogy, The One From the Other and Quiet Flame) matches in terms of suspense and character description this trilogy

Am desperate for the third book in English, do we really have to wait so long?

Beautifull last book. A pity the series is now finished. But i have one question: what happened to Lisbeths twin sister? Was this a book to be?

Can’t wait for third book.I read the first two books back to back, totally absorbing, great story, wonderful characters and just so well written. Why are they staggering the publication of the books in english ? Thankyou Stieg.

WHEN WILL WE HAVE THE ENGLISH TRANSLATION??? I don’t understand why we don’t get an answer to that. I can’t believe they will wait until 2010, it doesn’t make any sense. We have it in german, french, italian but not in english, that’s no go. Please give us an answer!

Just finished third book . (had to read Italian translation because I couldnt wait for English version) An absolutely cracking read .I was on the edge of my seat at times and shouting out, laughing and crying along the way. How tragic that such a tremendous talent was cut short at such an early stage

I feel #3 is not as good as the first 2. It’s somewhat less realistic on the veracity (for lack of a better word) of what’s going on. I know (being a computer eng.) that there were some big holes already in the first two, but they were not as close to the plot than some of the iffy material in #3, esp. towards the end (I don’t give details not to spoil reading for those who did read it, but if you want to contact me and ask, you’re welcome. A quick search and you’ll find me).
Great reading anyway, don’t misunderstand me.

I think the first book is great, but the second and the third are total nonsense in my eyes… poor character development (the good guys are good, the bad guys are bad), totally naive and unrealistic story and both books are about 300 or 400 pages too long… where the first one had a fine Agatha Christie Setting, the second and the third have no convincing criminal plot at all. Blomkvists relationships towards women seem somehow satirical, not to say stumpid and empty, in a bad way and there are far to many logic holes popping up on mostly every part of the books… the first one is a nice read though, if you forget about the poor “ending after the ending”… mashing up espionage or economic thriller and classic who-dunit worked in the first, but the second and third are far too overhyped…
Sorry for my bad english…

second book’s ending was v weak. am i really supposed to believe trained soviet agents would not know whether she was dead. all very friday the 13th. Loved the plot development but as with the first book, frustrated by the need for miracle endings. also why can’t we have some characters who are neither wholly good nor bad

i want the book!
contemplating learning swedish….
need to know what happens!
and i also really want to see “men who hate women”

Wonderfull trilogy. I read nr. 2 twice so Larsson gave me more than 2000 pages beautifull reading.

Just finished it. Much better than the second one, imho, that was really too long, too full of useless plots. Even here, the whole Erika and Smp’s thing was pointless -interesting, but useless to the rest of the story. But the book’s still great. I absolutely loved Annika Giannini vs Peter *bastard* Teleborian… I couldn’t wait for his fall. I would like it to be a little longer. Then I like some new characters’ developments, such as rhe doctor, but I didn’t fully appreciated the romance with Mikael… never liked, actually, him screwing with almost every female around.

I just finished the third. I liked it a lot! The 2nd and 3rd are very different from the 1st.
One question:
(SPOILER)
Whatever happened to Lisbeth’s sister???

I can’t believe that we have to wait until the end of the year to get a copy of the third book. Does anyone know how to get a translated copy, english or spanish?
Many thanks,

It appears some people liken fiction to reality , and so impose their engineering trained thoughts onto readers who enjoy the fiction for what it is . What it is , is purely fiction, and will not , and is not intended to be , a work of precise art ! If one wants perfection , look it up under ‘P’ in the Dictionary . Don’t waste that engineering Degree on Fiction . Have your way with perfection, and see what you can do with that!

You can order the 3rd book in English from Amazon – it says November 09 but you never know. As soon as they receive it they’ll send it! I hope there’s a 4th…why on earth wouldn’t the family want it to be published.

So, I just finished the third book (in Spanish), after reading the first two in English and I have to insist that Lisbeth Salander deserves all our passion. That said, I liked the book as a conclusion of the second one (I mean, it’s really one book in two deliveries) but it could have benefited from tighter editing. There is a lot of unnecessary stuff in the book and not enough Lisbeth. Also, it jars me that every woman who bumps into Blomkvist ends up with her panties in her hands. Seriously! Larsson’s fantasies take the better of his alter-ego. What bothers me is that for someone who is all about justice, the guy is shallow in his approach to women. Happy that Lisbeth kicked him out of his heart. I’d have liked to read a sequel where he’s the one pinning.

Correction: Happy that Lisbeth kicked him our of HER heart.

I’ve finished the last book a few days ago, and it is brilliant. The third is the best, I think, and it’s a pity that Stieg Larsson died. :’(
I love Lisbeth…and Mikael. Altough a lot of people don’t seem to like him. Can’t understand why…Ok, he sleeps with almost every women he meets. That’s really unrealistic.
And I’d love to read a 4th book…if there is one. Hoping sooo much there is:)

I have just purchased “The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest” in Australia at Big W supermarket for $19.95 [Aus].
I am enjoying the last in the trilogy and will be very sad when I have finished as there is No more.
Will always treasure and keep my Stieg Larsson books. What a phenomena he has been.

Just finished the first two novels and CANNOT BELIEVE that the third is still not available in English – what is that about!!!! I contemplated purchasing of Amazon.co.uk but the exchange and the delivery charges made me think twice.

I bought the Hornet’s Nest on Sunday 4 October in Nelson Bay NSW, finished it last night 9th Oct. Never have I been so captivated by a story line and amazing heroine….
When can we see the first movie here in Australia?
I do hope we have more of Steig to come…..a fourth book is mentioned?

I ordered the English translation from Amazon.UK and had it within a week — then read it in 2 days. There are slight slips in language, but the book is wonderful. I think it’s the best of the three.

Just finished the ‘Hornet’s Nest’ having gone though other 2 books in order.
Fantastic read, interesting characters, multi-layered plots all nicely finished off with a stapler (in the foot)!
Wish there were more to come – better get on with my life now.

I was really sad when I read that Lisbeth and Mikael didn´t become a couple in the end of the third book, but I think it would have been too early.
Lisbeth first has to find her way back to life and who knows, maybe later she will be with mikael
Maybe Larrson wanted become them together in later books, but now…very sad
And I love Lisbeth, she is a great character, a really poor girl. I hope she will feel better anytime soon. I anyway wondered how she can be that strong.
I hope there will be a fourth book.
I have hope in the last movie, maybe they will answer the last questions a little bit more than the book and we will find out more about lisbeths future. (hopefully with mikael, yes I´m a girl

I ordered and received “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest” from an Amazon seller called the Book Community for about $25 US. Reach them at thebookcommunityusgmail.com It’s a great book! wish there was a fourth!

I have read the 3 books (English translation) and must say this is the first time I have read all three books in one go (2weeks). If I had to list all the reasons why I liked it, the list would have been too long. I’ve also seen the 1st movie and liked it heaps. Let’s hope Hollywood doesn’t get its hairy hand in it.

I am still having withdrawal symptoms after finishing hornets nest. Would like to know more about the twin sister….it was a bit odd they didnt bring her into the story. Also surprised we didnt have more about Lisbeths father and his background and more about the Section. I reckon Stieg had further plans.

I just finished reading the Girl Who Kicked The Hornets’ Nest. After finishing the first two novels a few weeks ago, I couldn’t wait for the U.S. publication. So I ordered the UK English translation from Amazon.uk.
Wow. I can’t believe that story and plot just continued this amazing increasing level of tension from page 1 to the very last page. It was also bittersweet reading the last sentence, knowing that in most likelihood, that was the last sentence by Larsson to be published. I was expecting a let down because I couldn’t believe that the final book could ever live up to the first two books. Boy was I wrong! I’m very glad I jumped the gun and got the UK version ahead of the U.S. publication.

Does anyone know.. what Zalachenko was making.. or planned to make.. in the factory where Lisbeth cornered Niederman? What kind of equipment was in the crates? Or was it all a false front.. for a people-smuggling operation?

*Spoilers* Loved it!! Hornet is as good as the first 2, was really glad that there was a ‘satisfying’ ending was so worried that there wouldnt be one. All that I grew to hate in the book really had their comeuppance… I was really hoping Blomkvist finally found the ‘one’ in Lisbeth and Lisbeth finally found the right guy for someone so brilliantly strong & eccentric as her….. but ending was so… open for interpretation… So many questions like what happen to Camilla? what happen to Berger’s stolen ‘stalker’ stuff? Does Blomkvist really love figu? I want more… I want closure… eagerly awaiting 4th book!!!!

There won’t be a 4th book.

Loved all 3. Three things I love about book 3: 1] how the investigations by all the different teams came together into the evidence presented in court and the finale; 2] even though Lisbeth was confined to a hospital room, once she was given the means to communicate to the outside, she immediately went on the offensive; and 3] that Lisbeth’s and Mikael’s relationship didn’t dissolve into something romantic–there’s a beautiful tension in that friendship.

The American media stinks when they accomplish 3rd highest modern president rank for Slick Willy, and most popular candidate Hillary in 2016. Who killed America ? Willy and the Nasty One. Never, never forget Benghazi, Waco, Illean Gonzalez, and/or any other Cliton Dirt… NEVER America. And wake the hell up to our disgusting media. Thank You
