I think I will skip the movie
When looking at the cast and the trailer,I have decided to forget the movie. It would ruin the books. The actors are limited in ability and the movie lacks imagination according to the trailer.

I agree. I would skip the movie too. I think the actors are limited in ability too and the movie does lack imagination according to the trailer. It needs more life or true vivid action.

I think all the movies add to the discussion as do some of the books about Stieg,by Baksi Eva Gabrielsson–this maybe motivated more about my desire (compulsion) to relate to the three books the author and his companions.
The movies, after all, spend a lot of effort looking at the text trying to make the difficult transition form words to images.
I find the Swedish movies to be more devoted to the text–getting it right–and and the Fincher effort to be implicitly commenting on the GWTDT in some insightful ways.
Suggestion: Read the books a second time and then see the movies, you will not agree with any of them but may find the discussion advanced.

Movies both British and American versions are very impressive. But if everyone read the books and
imagined Lizbeth as it was your life in reality than in your imagination you would want to see more action in the movies which will take your breath away. Another thought..how many other foreign “Trilogies” were published and became so public in the United States? Or will anyone let another foreign “Trilogy” like this to be published?

I thought the Swedish (long) version was excellent, but they did take some awful liberties with the plot, so if that sort of thing offends you, don’t watch, but you’re missing something by not watching Noomi Rapace.

You may be right, in general, but I am here because I love the books and hanker for discussion of the story, the characters and the author, who created it all. I liked all the movies because they further the discussion. If had a buzillion dollars, I’d make my own movie(s) and write my own book about the Lisbeth n Mik and Erica and…

The movie does lacks imagination according to the trailer. It’s true that it make sense to read the books twice and than watch the movies. If I had a million dollars I would make my own movies with Mik and Lisbeth

I think the American version prioritizes the ‘aesthetics’ instead of the actual plot – the fact that they left A LOT of the book in the film, for example the relationship between Mikael & Cecilia Vanger. To be honest, I watched the films first before reading the books. I think it makes reading the thick books easier since I have a hard time remembering all the Swedish names.
