  3. I am just soooo sad that the US translation is so unworthy such good books. The cover is ugly! Just some big green shimmering Chinese dragon on highlight flourecent yellow.

Does not set the mood for the book AT ALL.

The translator should get slapped on his fingers or learn Swedish better….or use the English language better. It is called a verdict, not a court judgement and Martins secret place is sure as hell not a GROTTO!

Can I please get to correct all the errors, so this book might have a chance to survive the US market?

I’ll do it for free and I wouldn’t ask for any credit.

I was born in Skellefteå, 10 minutes from where Stieg was born. I have worked on Götgatan. I know the areas. Plus I am truly bilingual.

    Sigh

  4. Boy have I hit on a great international author (with a fabulous translator)! Thought the English translation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was EXCELLENT. (Loved the cover too) So many international books that are translated to Enlglish are sub-par and distracting. I cannot wait until “The Girl Who Played with Fire” hits the US market. Thank you!!

  6. What a wonderful crime book Mr. Larsson left us as a gift, in his The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I just could not stop reading and can hardly wait for The Girl Who Played With Fire. Stieg Larsson a genious.

  7. Tragic that Steig Larsson died so young, primarely for his sake, but also for all his readers who like myself could dive into his stories and for a time live and breathe in Stockholm.

  10. Nice books, but I have to agree with some comments below: The translation into English is very very bad. I am born in Sweden, and when reading the book (in English I just see a crappy direct translation from swedish that doesn’t make sense in English). Get a real translation for coming books, please !!!

    Sandra,

  12. It seems I may have to learn Swedish to be able to finish this trilogy before 2010!!! Waiting eagerly for the last book to be translated, have just ordered the second after devouring the first, which was a Christmas present from my Swedish boss. Great book!

    Catherine,

  14. I read all three books in french. I think the second one is the best but the whole trilogy is very good. I will go see the movie even though Lisbeth looks too straight from the few pictures I saw.
