Really a 4th and 5th?? does anyone know more about this??

I have seen a lot of comments about this. The most common comment is that he left an ‘unfinished’ 4th, and an outline for a 5th (and perhaps 6th). There is a general agreement that he’d intended to write a series of 10.

Hi. Saw a documentory regarding Stieg on TV earlier this summer where they at least interview his father and brother. Seams to be a dispute regarding the inheritance between them and his wife. Book 4 was mentioned as almost done. Apparently on his laptop but now it seams like no one knows where that one is. I can not recall that book 5 was mentioned.

Hi. I heard from an italian editor about the existence of a 4th book, but it’s not finished, some passages are just a scheme… I’m sorry because I loved the Trilogy, but probably someone else could try to complete the book by editing. Naturally it depends on inheritance question… I cross my fingers

Apparently his 4th bk in on his computer, which his compagnon of 35 years holds. She got nothing from all the sales, everything went to his father and brother, so for the moment she won’t release it. legal battles to follow…

It was mentioned yesterday in the Swedish news that the 4th book excists as unfinished and the father (holder of the estate) have decided NOT to release it as it’s not finished and not fair to Stieg to have it completed by other author(s)… Maybe when papa runs out of Stiegs money?? =o(

Haven’t read 1, 2, or 3 and yet I thirst for books 4 and 5!! I’ve just been introduced to the trilogy and ordered 1-3 from Amazon. Can’t wait to get stuck in…been wanting a good story for ages..see you on the other side.

I saw a TV-show about the struggle after Stiegs death. They said that there is a forth book that he had ALMOST finished before he died. Although his girlfriend was helping him with the three first books, and she knows about the end of the story, so she wants to finish it.

Now she’s hiding his computer because his father and brother wants to steal the story, but if and when she gets the law on her side she says she’ll publish. No one really knows when this might be though.

Wow, this is very very exciting! I hope that something in the near future will be settled between his wife and his family, because I need to find out what happens next, and I’m sure you all feel the same way. It’s such a shame that he didn’t get to finish his series of 10 book.

The thing that really bothers me is that we wont find out what happened to Camilla Salander.

I loved millenium trilogy and I would have loved to read more books about lisbeth salander, but like others have said most likely larsson’s brother and father wont publish that unfinished book if there even is one.

after finishing all the 3 books, unfortunately, I was desperetaly looking for something else regarding our great author… and then, I found a book, written by Lebeau, which is a kind of summary of all the 3 books, including some comments and secrets… the shocking news is that, according to this book, there should be the 4th and 5th book written by Larsson before his death! but the question is, where are they????

actually, Larsson’s idea was to write 10 books for Millennium… can you believe it?

I am gutted I have just finished the 3rd and wish I could start the 4th there is def some story lines left, So sad that he never saw his work be published and its success. Best work I have read for a while.

Salander had to fight her so called family and now it seems steigs life partner has to fight his family who sound just plain greedy. I hope her rights are recognised after 35 years.

If there there is a 4th in draft, and if it is right she helped with the triliogy,then she would be the right person to finish it and ensure that its published.

Good Luck to her and fingers crossed that there is a 4th!

I agree, there certainly would appear to be a parallel here, let’s hope that Eva sees justice in her fight with Stieg’s father and brother in the near future and publishes a 4th book. Can’t wait!

According to Lebeau’s story, “The Fourth Manuscript”, Larsson apparently intended to take Micke and Lisbeth together through a series of 8-10 stories, apparently with some kind of closure for them at the end of the whole thing. The obvious problem is that Eva knows the ending while the Larsson family owns the RIGHTS to the ending. So getting the whole story told, in book or movie form, will be problematic. But both sides must know that once Hollywood finishes up their three movies, people will start to lose interest in Lisbeth and move on. The clock is ticking — settle the dispute now!

Another thing: Lebeau says the manuscript Larsson wrote was volume 5, not volume 4. My guess is that volume 4 involved some business linking back to the first three books, which Larsson hadn?t figured out how to portray, while story number 5 was more of a stand-alone mystery. Perhaps Book 4 pertained to getting the relationship between the two main characters back on track, and he hadn?t decided how to do it — but he definitely intended to get them back together.

So don’t worry, movie-goers: when Lisbeth shooed Micke away from her door at the end of the third movie, that was not an ending for them, it was a beginning.

And with overwhelming international demand for resolution to the story, one way or another, the story will get written.

a 4th and a 5th book will be great. i am reading the 3 books a 3rd time already and i still feel the anticipation i did when i read it the first time. a new book will definitely make a lot of difference.. lol.

I am hoping it will all get settled soon other wise lisbeth will fade from peoples thoughts and that would be a sad thing. If there really isn’t that much to write for the fourth That means that it won’t be much longer before we see that fourth book. (fingers crossed!!)

How is it that a progressive liberal country like Sweden has such regressive laws regarding long-term common-law relationships. From interviews with Eva, it seems clear the only reason they never married, or officially shared property was to protect her from the attentions of the neo-Nazi movement in Sweden. But the sheer length of time they lived together should guarantee her some rights over the legacy of their shared lives.

Ro: because the law is an ass. That alone was the cause of all the current problems Eva is facing.

Maybe Joakim and Erland could pay her a salary to write more books, who knows? That might defuse the tension and let the Millennium series continue.
